CodePen Dayton [#11] with Val Head: Motion Design Techniques In Action is ready!

We’re excited to announce our October 6th special guest speaker - Val Head.

Val will be joining us via Google Hangouts to talk about web animation.

“The hardest part of web animation can be making your animations look polished and professional. It’s nearly impossible for an animation to be effective when it doesn’t feel or look right.”

In this talk Val Head will demonstrate how we can apply the 12 classic principles of animation — like Timing, Spacing, Overlapping Action and more — to transform animations from good to great.

Val frequently speaks at design conferences around the world. She is the author of The Pocket Guide to CSS Animations and Designing Interface Animation. She shares her passion for animation and UX by curating the UI Animation Newsletter, hosting the All The Right Moves screencast, and co-hosting the Motion and Meaning podcast.

We are really excited to have Val join us to share her web animation knowledge so we can be better web designers.

What's happening?

HALLOWEEN SPECIAL!

Pizza, candy, drinks, cheesy Halloween decorations and spooky good code! This is going to be another show-and-tell style meetup where all are welcome (and encouraged) to get up and share a pen you've created with the group, but with a Halloween theme. No pens will be turned away of course, but we're encouraging everyone to put on your favorite horror movie and create some Halloween-themed (however you want to interpret that) pens.

This scary fun code party is going to be hosted by our pal Colt Borg and Backstop Solutions at their office in Willis Tower! How cool is that?!

What's happening?

DublinCSS is proud to host the relaunch of the CodePen Dublin meetings, in a new format. Come, join us and find out what people like you can do with HTML, CSS and Javascript. We will see fun and interesting things, there will be prizes and swag and refreshments and cake (...actually the cake is a lie). And when all is done, we can socialise at the pub next door.

But this meeting is not just about attending, but also sharing. Done something awesome online recently? Have a web experiment you are proud of? Saw something really cool and you can't sleep at night until you tell everyone about it? Then let us know and we will add you on the presenter list. Everyone is welcome. And if you are shy of talking in front of an audience, consider it practice for that moment when you have to present your work in front of your boss. Only we will support you all the way through and we won't be looking for excuses to cut your paycheck.

There is only one rule about CodePen meetings - you don't talk about... Actually, talk all you want and spread the word (feel free to use #CodePenDublin when you do it). The real rule is that everyone must follow the CodePen Code of Conduct. Simple, isn't it?
