Unified Billing
One of the reasons to have a Team account on CodePen is because of the shared billing. Each team has at least one owner and the owner(s) control the payment method and pay for all the seats on the team.
Team Owners
When a team is created, it is always created by a user account on CodePen and that user account becomes the Teams Owner. The Team Owner can invite other users to the team and control what role they have on the team.
Transferring Team Ownership & Multiple Owners
A Team can have multiple owners through invitation.
That’s how you transfer the ownership of a Team: invite a new owner, and after they accept, the original Team Owner can remove themselves.
All Team Owners have permission to update the billing.
Team Sizes & Billing
A Team can be of any size, 2 members or greater.
Teams are billed by each seat with PRO access. You can change the number of seats at any time. If you change the number of seats lower, you’ll need those extra seats to be empty to do the downgrade. If you remove someone from your team, it doesn’t automatically reduce your next bill, is billed by the number of seats available not the number of seats filled.
Unseated (Non-PRO) Team Members
Owners and Admins on teams do not necessarily need to occupy a Team seat. This can be useful for employees at companies who don’t need to use CodePen themselves, but are in change of Team access. Owners and Admins can remove the PRO access from any other Owner or Admin (or themselves) at any time. In Team Settings, under the Membership dropdown, select the “Remove PRO Access” menu option.
Updating Team Billing
Log in to Settings. You’ll see a Billing tab for each team that you are an Owner of. From there you can Change Plan which allows you to change then number of seats. That page also has a Cancel PRO button which can cancel the Team entirely, disbanding members.
There is also an Update Payment Method button there for updating the credit card if needed.
You’ll also have a Billing History on this page where you can see all past payments, as well as an Update Address button for changing the address that appears on those past invoices.
