One of the purposes of having a Team on CodePen is working together. All Team-owned Pens and Collections are accessible by all current team members without having to invite them or do anything special. Team members create Team-owned Pens and Collections by simply creating them while in the Team Context. When Pens and Collections are created while in the Team Context, they are automatically Team-owned.

Having a Team simplifies sharing Pens and Collections with a group of people. Every team member has automatic full access to all Team-owned Pens and Collections. You can invite collaborators to Pens anytime, but you don’t have to invite your own team. You also cannot remove individual access from team members.

Team Work

While you are in the Team Context, the Your Work section of the homepage will be all Team-owned Pens and Collections.

You can determine which context you are in by checking the user avatar in the header of the site. If it’s the Team avatar, you’re in the Team context. If it’s your personal avatar, you’re in the Personal context. Open the menu to switch between contexts.

Reminders:

  • When you leave a comment on CodePen, the comment comes from you (not the Team, even if you’re in the Team Context)
  • When you heart on CodePen, the like comes from you (not the Team, even if you’re in the Team Context).
  • Individuals can follow a Team, but a Team can’t follow anything.

Team Profile

All Teams have a public profile. You can always get there from the user menu and clicking Profile, while in the Team Context. This profile is similar to a personal profile, but only a Team Owner can edit it.

Collections and Organization

Team-owned Collections can be created and managed by anyone on the Team while they are in the Team Context.
