CodePen PRO Teams accounts are for groups working together on CodePen. They can work for businesses, educational intimations, or any sort of ad-hoc groups. They have a few fundamental features that make teams what they are:

  • Shared Billing: A team has a single billing account. One payment method pays for all members of the team. Learn more about Team Billing.
  • Shared Access: A team shares access to all content. Every team member automatically has full editor access to all team-owned Pens and collections.
  • Shared Profile: Teams have public profiles for showcasing their work.
  • PRO for All: All Team members get Super PRO level access to CodePen across both their team and personal contexts.

Anyone can create a Team, and by default they become the Team Owner who controls the billing and can add new members immediately. They can also remove and edit the roles of users at any time.

Team Sizes

A Team can be of any size, 2 members or greater. Teams are billed by each seat with PRO access.

Context Switching

When a user joins a team, they retain all their personal work separately, it does not become part of the Team.

Users who are on Teams are either using CodePen in the Team Context or their Personal Context. They can switch back and forth instantly anytime by selecting either the Team or their own personal avatar in the User Menu in the upper right of the screen.

When a user is in the Team Context, it means when new Pens or Collections are created, they are created under Team ownership. Vice versa, when a use is in the Personal Context, Pens and Collection are created under their individual ownership (their fellow Team members are not automatically granted editor access).

Team Activity

Any Team member can see incoming activity that has happened on the Team account. For example, if a user hearts a Team-owned Pen, any Team member can see that in the activity area.

However, commenting and hearting is never done on behalf of a team. If any user comments on a Pen or hearts a Pen or Collection, that is done as themselves, an individual user.
