074: Privacy

Show Description We’ve long had Private Pens on CodePen. And we know that it’s a huge reason people go PRO at all, much like GitHub. We also know that internally we use private but still on-the-internet stuff all the time, like Private Gists. Since we already have a feature for writing and it handles syntax […]

Accidently seeing the Mobile Editor? We’ll prompt you to the right place now.

I once saw an @CodePen tweet that was like uhhhhh NOT LOVING the UI changes to the editor. Turns out, they were getting the Mobile Editor, which is a completely different UI than our normal Editor. Admittedly, the Mobile Editor doesn’t scale up to large screens with the best UI. It’s not meant to. The […]

CodePen on MDN

It’s pretty cool seeing demos on MDN1 have an “Open in CodePen” button. As in “Mozilla Developer Network”, the massive and most comprehensive documentation for web technology out there. ❤ For example, the page for repeating-radial-gradient() has some neat demos like these: One click and you can hop over to CodePen and play with that […]

073: Browsers

Show Description The web isn’t video games, where it’s well-understood that certain games only work on certain systems. The web is supposed to work everywhere. We talk about reasons why downtime might occur and how to minimize it. We also talk about a cool (yet to be attempted) idea to alert users who might be actively doing […]

Case-agnostic usernames

Usernames on CodePen allow uppercase and lowercase. For example, a combination of upper and lower case, like: http://codepen.io/SaraSoueidan/ You know what was wicked annoying? If you went to, for example: http://codepen.io/sarasoueidan/ It would fail (404). Now, it won’t. Even if you go to: http://codepen.io/SarAsOUeiDaN/ You’ll get redirected to the correct URL. HoT DigGiTY doG!

ABCD Animal Book

I’m a big fan of Judith Neumann’s work here on CodePen. Her Pens are whimsical and just so full of life! She is a master of pure-CSS illustration. So naturally I was very excited to see her talent showcased in a new digital children’s book, ABCD Animal Book. Judith collaborated with her fellow CodePen CSS […]
