It's the first Monday of November, and you know what that means — it's time for a new #CodePenChallenge!

The CodePen community had a blast celebrating Halloween with last month's challenge, and we wrapped it up with a week of trick-or-treating. Check out the Trick-or-Treat collection to see the Pens from the challenge.

November's Theme: Animals 🐼

This month, we're drawing inspiration from the animal kingdom! We'll venture into the jungle, delve into the ocean, and even travel through time for this adventure.

November's Challenge Sponsor: CodePen Jobs

The CodePen Jobs board is the place to find the right front-end developers and designers for your company, or get your next gig! Post a new job listing or browse positions at https://codepen.io/jobs.

Week One Theme: Jellyfish 🌊

We're jumping right into the deep end with this week's theme! The jellyfish is a fascinating creature, both delicate and dangerous. Their colors and hypnotic motion make them a beautiful subject for front-end art.

Your Challenge

Show us your loveliest creations inspired by jellyfish. Illustrate them, animate them, or teach us facts about these enigmatic creatures of the deep.

How to Participate

Create a Pen and tag it codepenchallenge and the weekly tag cpc-jellyfish. We'll gather those Pens into a collection and share our favorites on Twitter and Instagram (Use the #CodePenChallenge tag on Twitter and Instagram as well).

Ideas

  1. Did you know that November 3rd was World Jellyfish Day? You could create a Pen that shares some jellyfish facts like that!
  2. Illustrate jellyfish with JS or CSS (or both!) You could take a realistic approach or go cartoony.
  3. A chill bloom of jellyfish could make a beautiful background video.

Resources

  1. Check out the Live Jelly Cam from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.
  2. Jellyfish-inspired color palettes from ColourLovers.
  3. Marvel at Aleksandar Rodic's jawdropping WebGL jellyfish.
