We ask that you verify your email address when signing up for CodePen (or changing your email address after you’ve signed up). You can still use CodePen if you haven’t verified your email, but certain views and actions will be restricted.
Why do I need to verify my email?
In part, because of spam. This is just one of many ways we fight spam and bad behavior on CodePen.
We also need to verify your email so you can reset your password, receive subscription confirmations, and receive any email communication we are required to send to our members.
Another bonus though is that when you verify your email, you know it’s correct and that you’ll get all of the email notifications you choose to receive at the right address.
What is restricted if I’m not verified?
- Full Page View
- Creating a Collection
- Creating a Project
- Leaving comments on Posts or Pens
- Chat in Collab Mode or Professor Mode sessions
How do I verify my email?
You’ll get an email from us immediately after signing up for CodePen. You just click the link in that email and that’s it. If you change your email address in your personal settings, you’ll also be asked to verify that.
If you don’t see the verification email in your inbox within a few minutes, check any other folders (for example, the Promotions folder in Gmail) or your spam folder. If it’s not there, you can resend it.
How do I resend my verification email?
If you didn’t get the email, you can resend it from the link at the top of your Account Settings page.
You can also change your email again and send it to a different email address of yours. If you still have trouble, let us know in support.
States of Verification
Your CodePen account’s verification is always in one of these states:
Sent – If we’ve sent the email to you but you haven’t clicked the verification link yet, your verification status is “sent”. You’ll see a message that says “Verification email has been sent to (your email address)” on your account settings page. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please check any other tabs (for example, the “Promotions” tab in Gmail) or your spam folder.
Rejected – This happens if the verification email bounces or gets rejected by your email service. The most common reason for rejection is a typo in the email address. You can update your address on your Account Settings page and we’ll send a new verification email.
Verified – You’re verified if you’ve clicked the verification link in the verification email. You have full access to CodePen features for your account level.
